I have a new site-specific film/ performance piece “Twelve” in Footnotes at Sutton House as part of London Crafts Week. The exhibition opens on 9 May, and will runs until July 2018.

The exhibition will reveal objects from the eclectic Cordwainers footwear archive at London College of Fashion which includes 1930s orthopaedic footwear, silk slippers from the 1800s and even a shoe made for a sheep. Artists Linda Brothwell, Laila Diallo, Eelko Moorer and Ellen Sampson have produced work inspired by the selected shoes, revealing new interpretations of aged objects

Fashion Unravelled at the Museum at FIT, New York

Ellen Sampson Cloth #7 2013.jpg

I’m delighted that my photographic series Cloth will be in Fashion Unraveled at the Museum at FIT, New York from May 25th – November 17th , 2018

https://www.fitnyc.edu/museum/exhibitions/fashion-unraveled.php

Fashion Unraveled explores the roles of memory and imperfection in fashion. The exhibition highlights the aberrant beauty in awed objects, giving precedence to garments that have been altered, left unfinished, or deconstructed. These selections underscore one elemental fact about clothing: that it is designed to be worn and has, in some cases, been worn out.

Curator Colleen Hill, Historian Alexis Romano and I are convening a colloquium on September 29th 2018 to accompany the exhibition.
